Nightingale Music is Two!

Updated: Apr 23, 2020

And so far, no tantrums!

It's a pretty rare Saturday night off for me this evening, it's 4.34pm and I'm already in my pyjamas - who said rock and roll is dead?! I'm celebrating my free evening with homemade chocolate chip cookies, hot chocolate and The Greatest Dancer :)

I've been meaning to write a "Round up of 2019" post for a while, but time keeps running away from me like a naughty pup and I figured if I don't get it done this weekend, it won't get done at all! So here goes.

2019 proved to be a transformational year for Nightingale Music. I made the decision to go back to singing full-time, and with that came a whole host of challenges, headaches and joys that I managed to get through. One aspect of my work that has changed is the variety of gigs I have now. From being strictly a jazz singer initially, I've started exploring different types of music from the past century - I now have specific shows for every decade from the 1920s right up to the 80s that are going down really well at holiday parks all across the South; I love getting the party started at evening wedding receptions; in fact, every single gig I do now has a bespoke set list that is tweaked and primped for each occasion.

As much as it sounds like boring 'business' talk, networking has made a huge impact on me as a sole trader. Personal recommendations and introductions are worth their weight in gold, and I'm so grateful that people trust me with some of the most important moments in their lives (or just their Saturday night!).

So - what next? (Other than blogging more, obviously.)

Lots of gigs, weddings, and showcases! Other than that, I'm hoping to get my creative thinking cap on and put together a theatre show. I'm currently trying to figure out if it's possible, so watch this space! Think big band numbers entwined with funny stories, like the time I went on stage with a coathanger stuck in my hair (It was hilarious... you had to be there...). However I'm very much one of those people who loves to plan, but if something fun and exciting comes up, all bets are off and I'll try my hardest to work around everything else to make it happen.

Right now I'm gearing up for Valentine's weekend - I'm singing at some truly wonderful venues and will be spending the next couple of weeks brushing up on my love songs!

That's it for now - I know it's a quick one but those cookies are calling my name...

A 21st-century Love Story

In February 2020, I was in a bit of a grump with my love life. I'd met and date some nice guys (and a couple of idiots!) over the previous couple of years, but none that made me swoon. So when my happ
