It's a question I've been asked a lot over the past couple of months, and it's one I struggle to answer quite a lot of the time - does anyone else have Lockdown Brain? I'm sure I wasn't this scatty and forgetful before Covid-19 hit!
The rollercoaster of emotions recently has provided a bit of a bumpy ride, and the past couple of weeks has been particularly hard, but when I've had the bandwidth to concentrate I've been making the most of this time I've been gifted. I'm a passionate fan of lifelong learning and have been learning and improving both professional skills and hobbies. I'd love you to make your own list!
I've picked up my ukulele for the first time in months, and I've gone from playing one song badly to playing three songs badly!
I've learned over 20 new songs, including music that I'd never have thought to learn for my regular gig life. White Rabbit is one that sticks in my mind - psychodelic rock doesn't normally form part of my repetoire!
My baking has improved and I've enjoyed working with enriched dough for the first time. Baking is one of those things I love doing but don't always have time for.
Learning to edit video footage in Premiere Pro had me screaming in frustration several times, but it's already proving to be useful (especially for my tutorials!).
Confession time - I'm absolutely rubbish at sitting down and watching films under normal circumstances. Finding the time and concentration is just never a priority. But when you've run out of Tiger King and Drag Race, what else is there to do? So far I've watched Top Gun, The Princess Bride, and Stand By Me (among others) for the first time and I've enjoyed spending time getting acquainted with these 80's classics.
I'd love to know what you've learned and what has brought you joy during lockdown, so tell me:
What have YOU been up to lately?
